This Privacy Policy describes how the Tahfeez application (hereinafter - the Application, we) handles your information. Tahfeez is a Quran memorization tracking application. It works entirely on your device: we do not require an account, we do not operate our own servers, we do not show ads, and we do not collect or share your personal data. The only network traffic the Application makes is downloading Quran recitation audio from a third-party audio library when you play it.
1.1. All of your data — your memorization progress, bookmarks, recitation settings, playback preferences, language settings, and other app settings — is stored locally on your device. This data is not uploaded to any server and is not accessible to us.
1.2. Deleting the Application from your device deletes this local data.
2.1. The Application plays Quran recitations verse by verse. Audio files you have not yet downloaded are fetched over an encrypted connection from a third-party recitation audio library (everyayah.com) and cached on your device. Downloaded audio is kept in the cache, which has a size limit — the least recently used files are removed automatically.
2.2. By default, the Application prefetches audio only over Wi-Fi. You can allow downloads over mobile data in the Application's settings.
2.3. When the Application fetches audio, the audio provider receives standard technical request information (such as your IP address) through its servers, as with any download. The Application does not send your name, any identifier, or any of your memorization data with these requests, because it does not have any. The audio provider processes this data according to its own terms and privacy policy.
3.1. When the Application is used with Android Auto or Apple CarPlay, you can start playback by asking the voice assistant (for example, "play surah Al-Baqarah in Tahfeez"). Speech recognition in this case is performed entirely by the operating system's assistant, not by the Application. The Application receives only the resulting text query and matches it against surah names on your device.
3.2. The Application itself does not have access to the microphone, does not record audio, and does not perform speech recognition.
4.1. The Application is distributed through the Apple App Store and Google Play. Downloads, updates, and any in-app rating prompts are handled by the store you downloaded the Application from, and those stores process information according to their own privacy policies.
4.2. Because it is the store's responsibility to resolve refund issues, we may share anonymous information about your use of the Application with Apple Inc. or Google LLC, depending on the store where you downloaded the Application, in connection with refund requests.
6.1. Your memorization data lives only on your device and is retained until you delete it or remove the Application. Removing the Application also removes the audio cache.
6.2. Because we do not collect data on our servers, there is nothing to request or erase from us — deleting the Application deletes everything.
7.1. The Application is suitable for users of all ages, including children. We do not collect personal information from anyone. There is no account registration, no advertising, no analytics, no tracking, and no user-generated content. Memorization progress and all settings stay on the device, as described in section 1.
7.2. The Application does not transmit the Android advertising identifier (AAID), SIM serial, build serial, BSSID, MAC address, SSID, IMEI, or IMSI, and it contains no advertising or analytics software development kits.
7.3. As described in section 2, playing a recitation that has not yet been downloaded requires a request to a third-party recitation audio library (everyayah.com). Like any request over the internet, that request carries the device's IP address. The IP address is used solely to perform the network communication and deliver the audio file the user asked for. It is not used or disclosed to contact any individual, to serve behavioral advertising, to build a profile of any individual, or for any other purpose. No name, account, device identifier, or memorization data accompanies these requests, because the Application holds none.
7.4. Parents who prefer that the Application make no network requests at all during use can download recitations in advance over Wi-Fi and then use the Application entirely offline.
7.5. If you are a parent or guardian and have questions about how the Application handles your child's information, you can reach us through the options in section 10.
8.1. Audio downloads use encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS). Your local data is protected by your device's operating system security, including device encryption when enabled.
9.1. We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The current version is posted on this page, and the date of the latest revision is indicated at the top. Continued use of the Application after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
10.1. If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or how your data is handled, please contact us through the store from which you downloaded the Application. On the Apple App Store, use the App Support link on the Application's product page (or the Report a Problem feature in your account). On Google Play, use the contact options on the Application's store listing. Refund requests are handled directly by the respective store.
